Following several design and value-engineering exercises over the first and second quarter of 2014, HBC entered a contract with Spaxton Community Shop Society Ltd to commence the construction of a new village shop and Post Office stores over the summer months.
Due to the positioning of the new shop in close proximity to a number of trees, a raft foundation was designed and built, with a timber frame superstructure. The external walls were faced with Hardiplank boarding in a ‘heathered moss’ colour to suit the surroundings. New gas, electric and water was brought to the property as well as waste connections.
The final fit out of the shop was completed by the client’s committee volunteers and opened in January 2015.
