In approximately 2008, works to construct a new bowling rink and other facilities commenced for Isle of Wedmore Bowls Club.
The nature of the works included a new build 4 rink, full size indoor bowling rink with bar, restaurant and catering kitchen, male and female changing rooms with showers and lockers, office and various external works. Temporary shared access was used during construction alongside the existing outside bowling green.
Great care was taken to ensure no works encroached upon the existing facilities and with a shared access and adjacent school, health and safety was of paramount importance.
The internal sub-structure works were very complicated due to varying levels and formation of ditches within the concrete slab. Works were to very fine tolerances due to the nature of the finished bowling surface. All external works were designed to blend in with the surrounding countryside.
All works were completed on time and to budget (approx. £500k) to the complete satisfaction of the client (Mr K Petit – Secretary, Wedmore Bowling Club)
