Works with MATA Regal Theatre Company and Louise Crossman Architects were carried out on the phased improvements to the facilities at the Regal Theatre in Minehead for several years.
A new box office and lift were installed to provide improved access to the theatre, which compliments the new balcony and allows all members of staff and public much greater access and space throughout the building.
The new box office was designed forward of the main elevation of the theatre with glass walls to invite members of the public in and to provide improved advertising space for events. Access required considerable design and communication due to the limited space on a busy high street.
A contemporary copper roof was pre-painted off site and installed, matching the surrounding green tiled roofs and helping ignite the theatre into the 21st century. At night the illuminated shaft forms a beacon on the Minehead streetscape.
All works required close liaison with the client, architects and public to ensure a safe working site at all times.
