Company History
Following the end of World War II, three Harris brothers by the names of George, Fred and Ern combined their skills to form a family building service. Through time, the company’s stature and reputation as a quality local builder began to increase.
By the late 1980s, Harris Brothers & Collard were renowned as a local housing developer, working on both private venture developments as well as directly for the local councils. Many of the local housing estates within Bridgwater and the local villages were built by the company.
After this time, the recession had a big impact on housing prices and demand. As a result, the company slowly began to transition into contracting. Some of our legacy projects known to many include:
- The construction of Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton
- The major regeneration of Angel Crescent in Bridgwater
- The re-siting of Admiral Blake Statue in Bridgwater
- The construction of St. Francis Church
- The construction of Bridgwater Catholic Church
The company has always maintained its structure as a family-run local business and is now into its fourth generation.
